The GVU Center has for 20 years inspired and enabled interdisciplinary research at the crossroads of where people and technology meet, fostering new innovations for society and creating new ways of thinking about technological progress. In this era of computing advancement, GVU is a leader in creating the technology research that will transform how we live tomorrow.
We invite you to join us for a celebration of the past, present, and future of the GVU Center at Georgia Tech during our 20th Anniversary Gala Event this fall, Oct. 23-25, 2012.
Over its 20 year history, the GVU Center has grown into one of the largest and most prominent research centers of its kind in the country. From GVU's roots in computer graphics and animation, scientific data visualization, and human-computer interaction, the center has been instrumental in expanding the vision of how technology can shape society.
Our 20th anniversary program will offer a thought-provoking look at the future of interactive technology and the role of university research in its discovery. We will also present the GVU Impact Awards, recognizing the contributions of alumni and current GVU members and their impact on the world, and honor GVU's top graduate researchers with the Foley Scholarship, named after the GVU Center's founder, Jim Foley. Over the three-day celebration you are invited to register for special Innovation Workshops to engage with and learn from members of our talented research community. The GVU Research Showcase will be a centerpiece of our program where you will see firsthand the innovation taking place at GVU and the people who bring it to life.
2012 also marks the 15th anniversary of Georgia Tech's renowned Masters in HCI program, as well as the fifth anniversary of the founding of the Foley Scholars program. We hope you'll join us to celebrate these milestones.
