Conferences
GVU Faculty and students regularly publish and participate in the following conferences:
CHI 2008, CHI 2007 - the premiere conference in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), sponsored by the ACM. Every year, it is a venue for 2000 HCI professionals, academics, and students to discuss HCI issues and research and make lasting connections in the HCI community. In addition, 40-50 industry exhibitors attend CHI to showcase their user experience products and departments and to recruit professionals.
SIGGRAPH -
a premier annual conference on leading-edge theory and practice of computer graphics and interactive techniques, also sponsored by the ACM. The annual SIGGRAPH conference and its year-round initiatives provide unique crossroads for a diverse community of researchers, developers, creators, educators, and practitioners.
UIST - UIST (ACM Symposium on User Interface Software and Technology) is the premier forum for innovations in the software and technology of human-computer interfaces. Sponsored by ACM's special interest groups on computer-human interaction (SIGCHI) and computer graphics (SIGGRAPH), UIST brings together researchers and practitioners from diverse areas that include traditional graphical & web user interfaces, tangible & ubiquitous computing, virtual & augmented reality, multimedia, new input & output devices, and CSCW.
UbiComp - the premier forum in which to present research results in all areas relating to the design, implementation, application and evaluation of ubiquitous computing technologies, bringing together leading researchers from a variety of disciplines and geographical areas who are exploring the frontiers of computing as it moves beyond the desktop and becomes increasingly interwoven into the fabrics of our lives.
ISWC - the International Symposium on Wearable Computers, focusing on the fundamental technologies for wearable computing, implementation techniques, and practical applications including modeling human communications in wearable environments, smart portable platforms with advanced electronics design, and a variety of applications that are feasible in daily life, in social environments as well as specialized fields.
Eurographics - Europe-wide professional Computer Graphics association. The association supports its members in advancing the state of the art in Computer Graphics and related fields such as Multimedia, Scientific Visualization and Human Computer Interfaces. The conference brings together graphics experts from around the world and also offers introductory and advanced courses for managers and technical staff.
IEEE Vis - yearly conference on scientific visualization organized by the IEEE. This event brings together researchers and practitioners with a shared interest in tools, techniques, and technology. The conferences and symposium will include an exciting and informative collection of workshops, tutorials, papers, panels, demonstrations, posters, and exhibitions.
EuroVis - annual visualization symposium (formerly known as 'VisSym'), jointly organised by the Eurographics Working Group on Data Visualization and the IEEE Visualization and Graphics Technical Committee. Paper topics include theoretical foundations, perception, usability and human factors, medical and biomedical visualization among many others.
Smart Graphics - The International Symposium on Smart Graphics will bring together researchers from Computer Graphics, Visualization, Art & Graphics Design, Cognitive Psychology and Artificial Intelligence, all working on different aspects of computer-generated graphics and the user experiences they enable.
ICAD - a forum for presenting research on the use of sound to display data, monitor systems, and provide enhanced user interfaces for computers and virtual reality systems. It is unique in its singular focus on auditory displays and the array of perception, technology, and application areas that this encompasses.
SCA - the Symposium on Computer Animation is a leading forum for the dissemination of cutting-edge research in computer animation. Sponsored by the ACM and Eurographics, this conference is usually co-located with the annual Eurographics conference.
SCI
ICCV - the International Conference on Computer Vision includes presentations, tutorials, and workshops on varying aspects of computer vision.
ICVC - International Conference on Visual Computing is hosted by the International Federation for Information Processing, the leading multinational, apolitical organization in Information & Communications Technologies and Sciences. IFIP is recognized by United Nations and other world bodies and represents IT Societies from 56 countries or regions
VR - IEEE Virtual Reality, a week of presentations, exhibits, workshops, and special events. Innovative research, the leading companies, and stimulating discussions in the fields of virtual environments, augmented reality, and 3D user interfaces are all represented.
